We look for the best students to provide high-quality services to our students and to become a brilliant addition to our team.

If selected Interns will be invited to travel to one of our locations in Mexico to teach English and participate in many cultural and language learning activities.

Our goal is to provide an unrivaled learning experience for all of our interns. We want our interns to learn and be immersed in the Mexican culture and fall in love with their experience here. Our team works hard but we also have fun and learn a lot! Interns have a high degree of autonomy and flexibility in their schedules. This is not an internship that involves making coffee and sending faxes, you are as much a part of the team as our full-time employees! We also provide optional professional development training for all Interns during their free time (see "Other Activities" below).

Duties:

As an Intern with us, your duties will include teaching English classes for our students. We offer many different classes at varying levels of proficiency. All training to be able to teach the classes will be provided to Interns when they arrive in Mexico. Interns will be assigned students upon arrival and work with these students and groups the entire time they are at Fluency First. Interns are responsible for creating, implementing, and submitting lesson plans, managing the student's experience, reporting on student progress, and preparing lesson materials for their and other classes. Some Interns will have the opportunity to teach some University English classes as well. Students will work between 20-30 hours per week and have the remaining time to enjoy the beautiful and safe cities (see "Other Activities" below for more information). If students are interested in working with our management team and learning more about International Business Operations, Marketing, Sales, Social Media, Finance, etc. Interns are welcome to participate in this part of the business as well.

Duration:

The duration of this Internship is 13 weeks (1 semester) and we accept only a few students each semester (Fall, Winter, Summer).

Other Details

Compensation:

Interns are not paid for their work directly but will receive as part of the internship room, board, and a weekly food stipend. Some transportation while in Mexico is provided as well (taxi and bus service is very cheap for all other travel). Any additional spending money is the responsibility of the students. (Some activities are paid for).

Travel:

Interns are responsible for all flights to and from our location in Mexico. We can help advise on best travel practices and help book flights with Interns. If Interns would like to travel within Mexico (not related to professional responsibilities) during their free time, all expenses incurred will be the responsibility of the Intern.

Acommodations:

Separate accommodations are arranged for men and women. Interns will most likely share an apartment with other Interns. We expect all Interns to abide by the accommodation rules (outlined in the Internship Packet, see below).

Other Activities (the fun part!!)

Interns have the opportunity to participate in many excursions (historical and cultural). We take students all around the cities where they are located and do fun activities (depending on location activities could include: hiking, swimming, visiting Mayan and Aztec ruins, museums, beaches, snorkeling, food tours, exploring the cities, boating, dancing, cultural activities, etc.). Interns also have free reign to explore and have fun during their free time as well, our staff can point out many fun activities to do in and around the cities. Also, many students are interested in learning Spanish while in Mexico, our Instructors teach Spanish classes to all interested Interns, including in class and out of class Spanish immersion activities. Take a look at our pictures on tumblr to see a few pictures of our locations and fun activities we have done with our Interns: Fluency First Institute Flickr

Safety: Many potential Interns are concerned about the safety of living in Mexico. We have never had any problems with keeping students safe, although it is our utmost concern. Upon being selected, an internship packet will be sent to Interns that include many safety tips to help you stay safe while with us here in Mexico. Both Zacatecas and Puerto Vallarta have a history of being very safe cities.
